I was under the impression that once the video had been buffered, there wouldn't be any issues like this, seeing as the entire video has been downloaded (and this is confirmed by the progress bar at the bottom).
The only way I can resume them is if i refresh the page completely. They'll play for a further 5 seconds, then freeze. I often watch Youtube vids while i'm having breakfast and I usually end up pausing the vid and coming back to it.
